Association of Fleet Professionals Launches Electric Van Training Course

Van fleet operators can sign up for a new course from the Association of Fleet Professionals which is designed to help their transition to electric vehicles

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) has launched a new eLCV course to help fleets as they introduce electric commercial vehicles.

The first event will take place on Thursday, 9th September and will follow a similar format to the AFP’s existing one-day electric car course, which was launched earlier this year.

The new course has been created by eLCV expert Paul Kirby in conjunction with the AFP. It will be delivered by him alongside the association’s Peter Eldridge via video conference.

In total the session will last five to six hours, with training covering five modules – the eLCV ecosystem, vehicles, evaluation, total cost of ownership and operations, and future state.

Paul Hollick, Chair of the AFP, said:

“The electric car course has been one of the key achievements of the AFP to date, helping many fleet professionals to begin planning their electrification transition.

The new eLCV equivalent aims to do the same for light commercial vehicle operators and we are sure will be similarly successful.”

He added that the course would be repeated during the year for those who can’t make the first session.

The cost of attendance is £225 for AFP and ICFM members and £295 for non-members.

Reflex is a supporter of the AFP and is also helping fleets with the transition to zero-emission vehicles with its unique Reflex Renewable Drive Programme, which puts managers in the driving seat of plug-in cars to give them valuable insights and experiences as they develop their vehicle strategies.

Two team members from Reflex Vehicle Hire have joined the Association of Fleet Professionals as part of our ongoing efforts to support the industry.

Martin Tyers, Head of Fleet at Reflex Vehicle Hire, and Vehicle Purchasing Manager Aaron Cawrey have joined the association; they will take part in future events and networking to share best practice advice.

The Association of Fleet Professionals was created from two of the industry’s biggest organisations, the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO) and the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM).

Under the new AFP identity, the two industry bodies provide a voice for the industry and oversee fleet training.
